Community Health Network issued the challenge to create a facility to meet the growing demand for cancer care in Central Indiana. Designed with input from patients, physicians and staff, the Community Cancer Center North provides convenient access to exceptional healthcare services. The design for the 125,000-square-foot, three-story cancer center features elements that create a home-like atmosphere and a warm and contemporary design.

Construction began in October 2015 and was completed in April 2017, nearly two months ahead of the original schedule. To accomplish this, the management team worked on-site, subcontractors worked extra crews and shifts, and the team utilized LEAN principles and pull planning.

Additionally, with close to 300 workers on-site daily, 170,364 total man hours, and multiple trades working simultaneously, the project did not sustain a single work-related injury or illness. Ultimately, thanks to successful teamwork, the hospital opened under budget and ahead of schedule and began treating cancer patients earlier than expected.

Meyer Najem and the entire project team, including BSA Lifestructures and Callison RTKL, have been proud to have received the following awards for the Community Cancer Center North – a project that exemplifies an outstanding commitment to safety and project performance.
